Drawing with Light

Hi! My name is Mano and I am an amateur photographer. Besides the many other things in life that occupies my time, these last two years I have been drawn towards drawing, that is with light. I love taking pictures as it freezes a moment in the space time continuum. It is subjective, open to interpretation, it captures the very essence of life, the unspoken words.

I’ve never been to a photography class; books, websites and chris orwig have been my mentors. I don’t have a degree in art, in fact I failed many of them during my school days. But I believe there’s a little bit of art in all of us. Enjoy the pictures that are included in this site as I undertake the journey of growth and fascination; in drawing with light.

As adults sometimes we forget how it felt to be a kid. Bold, creative, imaginative, always curious with a million questions. Exploring every corner of the house. Simple things brought enormous pleasure. My son used to be fascinated with floating ballons (Ballon Ads) as we  drive down the highway. Every day, same ballon, same place but that never diminishes his enthusiasm to call them out. He could’t speak yet but I could read his mind oozing through his excitement, “These ballons are awesome, you got to look at it!”. Somehow as we grow older the world seem to suck the child out of us. We’ve become nervous, worried, stop exploring, stop taking risks, yes, we’ve grown up! Leave childish ways behind we say, I say let the CHILD in all of us live…
We become better people as a result…

I just think it’s important to be direct and honest with people about why you’re photographing them and what you’re doing. After all, you are taking some of their soul. Mary Ellen Mark
Black and white are the colors of photography. To me they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected. Robert Frank
All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this – as in other ways – they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it. John Berger
It can be a trap of the photographer to think that his or her best pictures were the ones that were hardest to get. Timothy Allen
